Hello everyone,

LibreELEC is an exceptional operating system made to run everyone’s favourite media centre Kodi.

Here we show you, step by step, how to run Kszaq’s LibreELEC S905/S905X port on your Amlogic TV box, such as the MXQ Pro, equipped with either the S905 or S905X Amlogic CPU.

Kszaq does an amazing job at keeping his port of LibreELEC up to date, the current version of LE for the S905 is running KODI 17.4 Final Edition.

Please follow the instructions on this video guide carefully and ensuring you only attempt to dual boot before installing to NAND.

  1. Thank you for that tutorial, helps me a lot.

I’ve tried to do it with my Mini M8S 4K and it works perfectly well.
    2 tests done :
    – with an USB card 2 GB. No problem to boot on it
    – with a SD Card LEXAR – 300x Micro SDHCTM UHS-1 16Go Classe 10. Good also. (https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0123CI41Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

    I’ve used these 2 files :
    – LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-8.1.8.img.gz
    – Device Tree : gxl_p212_2g.dtb

I’ve just seen that LibreELEC 8.1.9 si available on kszaq.libreelec.tv, so will test it soon.

However, has anyone ever experienced troubles with lan network exchanges between the Mini M8S with a usb hard drive connected and a PC in the same network ? Explanation : i want to copy/paste a video from the PC to the hard drive connected to the M8S : i see the hard drive, the copy starts but then the transfer goes near 0 bits/sec.

    1. Hi, no not had this experience – Your probably best directing that question directly to KSZAQ himself over on the LE S905 forum thread

  2. ok, but adding the two partitions gives me about 5.6GB.
Where is the rest of the space?
Any partition where android was installed ?.

    thanks

  3. Hi,
Excellent tutorials very didactic and complete.
Congratulations on the new web design.

    My question:
Install libreELEC in an MXQPRO with the help of the tutorials.
Install it in a SDCARD, and now transfer it to internal memory. Everything good up here, very fast and fluid.

It is an MXQ PRO 4K of 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM.
When I see the info in Kodi I get a system partition of 1GB approx.
And a data partition of 4.6GB.
I assume the rest of the space is some android recovery partition.
Is it possible to take up all 8GB ROM?

    Thank.

    1. The Android recovery will take up a small amount of space yes, the Data partition is practically empty when you first install, it is where LibreELEC will store things like Kodi addons, downloads etc.

      Scott
