TUTORIAL (S805): How to install the OFFICIAL LAKKA gaming build for MXQ S805

Hey Everyone,

A long while back we sent a couple of members of the Libretro team, who develops Retroarch and Lakka, some MXQ boxes and HD18Q boards with the hope of getting a port of the Lakka retro gaming system build for the MXQ S805 box, after a lot of hard on the developers part we finally got a working port for these devices, for a while this was hosted on their Lakka mirror website with other development ports but after a while it started receiving updates, and now, the MXQ port of Lakka is an officially supported build and is available from the Lakka website.

So with the help of this guide you will be able to hopefully turn your old TV box into an awesome retro gaming console as Lakka incoporates Libretro’s amazing RetroArch emulator front-end into it’s own self contained operating system.

In this video Matthew will show you how to get this, write the firmware to an SD card and install on your MXQ box.

Files you will need:

Lakka from here
Win32 Disk Imager from here
7zip from here

CAUTION: FOLLOW THIS GUIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS HAS BEEN TESTED ON OUR MXQ S805 BOXES. ALTHOUGH THIS WILL WORK ON OTHER DEVICES AS WELL WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG!

So thank you guys for watching, hopefully after this you will have turned your MXQ box into an awesome retro games console!

Let us know in the comments what you thought.

Scott
